There was no doubt that work was steaming ahead on the park when Member for Bathurst Paul Toole, mayor Graeme Hanger and deputy mayor Bobby Bourke were at the park on Friday morning to see the progress made because the noise of the heavy machinery was a constant accompaniment.
The $400,000 work is being funded by a $300,000 grant from the NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities Fund and a Bathurst Regional Council contribution.

The grant from the NSW Government was announced in October last year and, in the weeks following, council sought community input on what should be included in the skate park extension.
Council says the final design elements for the project were derived in "consultation with the Bathurst Youth Council, local primary schools and skate park users".
Convic was awarded the contract to design the extension in 2018 and contractor VFG Skateparks has been awarded the contract to build the new skate park elements.
Cr Hanger said the work should take around 16 weeks in total.
"It's a council facility and a community facility. It's very well-used," he said. "There are boys and girls here at all hours of the day and night, especially in spring and summer."
Cr Hanger, Cr Bourke and Mr Toole all emphasised that the features added in the extension will mean the park can be used by more skaters - in particular, those who are still learning or perfecting their skills.
"What we're going to see is a street skate park being put in as part of the extension," Mr Toole said.
Beginners or intermediate riders will be able to use the new features in the extension to build up to the more advanced parts of the skate park, he said.
