THE news that Doug Anthony All Star Tim Ferguson will be returning to Bathurst for a new show sent Parade shuffling to his bookshelves at home to find Ferguson's autobiography Carry A Big Stick.

Parade read it a few years ago, but he's been flicking through it again the past few days and snorting with laughter at all the same passages.
Ferguson - as he is fond of reminding this newspaper - spent part of his childhood in the Bathurst district, including some of his school days at what was then All Saints' College.
He recollects his mother using his family nickname "Timothy Turt" (it was short for Timothy Turtledove) as she called out to him across the college's footy field and how his mates thought it sounded like something else.
His autobiography actually ends with a description of some of the antics when his old All Saints classmates get back together in Bathurst for a reunion featuring some roughhousing and telling of tall tales.
Parade always admired the All Stars for their ability to say the most outrageous or off-colour things with a wink and a cheeky smile - a skill that took them a long way in life.
Presumably there will be plenty of that when Ferguson performs at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre on September 28.

Parade is told the Autism Community Network will be coming to Bathurst next week to talk about what it does and how it can help.
The network, which services more than 1600 families and covers 17 local government areas, has just expanded into Goulburn and Newcastle and Bathurst, Parade is told, is the next focus.
The network aims to provide mainstream skills and reduce the isolation so many people on the spectrum feel.
The Autism Community Network will run a presentation next Thursday, September 12 at Panthers Bathurst, starting at 10am, explaining how the organisation can help.
The following day, Friday, September 13, a nine-hole ambrose golf day fundraiser will be held at the Bathurst Golf Club thanks to Brendan Bradshaw.
Cost is $50 per person to play. A bistro lunch at noon will precede the tee-off at 1pm.
