BATHURST Regional Council is preparing to send out information to inform residents about their responsibilities under Level 4-5 (extreme) water restrictions.

Director of engineering services Darren Sturgiss said Australia Post would deliver information to all ratepayers in Bathurst in the coming weeks.
Level 4-5 restrictions will come into effect on Monday, October 14 - the day after the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

Under those restrictions, residents will not be permitted to water their lawns and will be limited to watering gardens for half an hour only on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Residents will also be expected to take four-minute showers.
Penalties apply to people who are found to be non-compliant with the restrictions.
Council is also in the process of providing guidelines and recommendations for the temporary use of grey water by residents.
"Things to be considered are where the water has come from ... along with appropriate timelines to store grey water - we certainly don't recommend for it to be stored for very long periods of time," Mr Sturgiss said.
The recommendations would also cover how to safely carry grey water around to avoid injury.
The documentation will be available on council's website once it is complete.
