AS a basketballer Matilda Flood has had Australian Country, School Sport Australia and Under 20s Nationals medals hung around her neck, but when she added two more to her collection on Saturday they were for a different sport.

They were the reward for an outstanding season playing Australian rules football.
Flood was not only a member of the first Bathurst Giants women's team to claim the Central West AFL premiership trophy, but she was also named best on ground.
The tears of joy in her eyes and broad smile on face showed just how much both medals meant to her.
"The physicality is kind of similar, but I like this more because you can tackle which you can't do in basketball. I'm a very physical girl, so it's good to get my anger out," Flood laughed.
"Best on ground, that's unreal, I did not expect that at all, it's so good."
As she has done all season, Flood shone for the Giants as they held off a determined Bathurst Lady Bushrangers outfit at George Park 2 to win the decider 7-8-50 to 4-1-25.
Flood worked hard in the ruck, took some nice marks and tackled with ferocity throughout the contest.
But an even bigger highlight were her thumping kicks.
She scored a goal from the top of the 50 metre arc in the opening term - an effort she said the Giants' coaching staff could take some credit for.
"At the start of the season I was horrible kicking, but all of the coaches here are so amazing, they got me kicking well," she said.
"I knew I had the power it was just a matter of unleashing that, they've got me kicking awesome."
The other thing which made Saturday's grand final success sweet for Flood was that amongst her Bathurst Giants team-mates was her sister Olivia.
"Getting to play with her, that was a big factor in playing, she's not very good at basketball so this is something we can do together," Flood said.
"It was really good to get a medal with her.
"The Bushies put up such a fight, it was back and forth, back and forth, but luckily we pulled it off. After losing last year, no one wanted to have that feeling again so we all had fire."
