Who else has spent a bit of time at the Bathurst Eisteddfod over the past couple of weeks?
As a parent, it will surprise no one to learn I've done a few sessions at BMEC in recent days, though I admit I'm not always thrilled by the prospect.
The problem is there always seems to be something else I should be doing - or, at least, that's what I tell myself.
Once I'm there though, I always find it an enjoyable and uplifting experience.
The first joy is simply watching one of your children perform, regardless of the result at the end.
We always say they grow up too quickly but do we always take the time to enjoy the moments along the way?
The second joy is the sense of community the eisteddfod creates.
The annual event offers thousands of performers the chance to take centre stage for just a few minutes, but in a safe place where there is only encouragement from the adjudicators and audience.
There might be a winner for each section, but just taking part is also an achievement.
And that's got to be worth an hour or two out of my day.
