That all changed in Sunday's major semi-final at Proctor Park.

CSU overcame the Goats 3-2 to progress to the grand final and send Panorama into a preliminary final meeting against Eglinton this Sunday.

The Vixens came back from a 2-1 on the back of an Emily Thurlow brace, much to the delight of CSU co-coach Brady Evans.

"We're stoked with that. It was another tight game, which is what we always expect against Panorama. They've been the top side all year so to beat them and avoid playing any do-or-die football is really pleasing," he said.

"We're desperate when we need to be and we showed a lot of desperation in this game. It's tough in conditions like that with that wind whipping across the ground. They've done a great job to keep them out."

There is a statistic the Goats can take heart in: The last two teams to win the major semi-final have gone on to lose the grand final.

Their undefeated run may have come to a close but Panorama's coach Brent Huie isn't troubled by the result.

"There's still a lot to like in that game. We probably created the better chances but we just couldn't finish them," he said.

"I felt like we had a really good first half and it was a shame to go into the break at 2-all. We just couldn't find the back of the net but football's like that sometimes.

"A lot of the girls aren't used to losing but we'll hit back."

It took only seven minutes for CSU to get on the board.

Julia Koko found space down the left wing and was able to fire a precision cross to Sarah Evans who tapped home the opener.

Evans could have doubled the advantage moments later in a one-on-one with goalkeeper Shania Morgan but the shot was stopped.

The CSU advantage was lost in the 19^th minute as Sarah Browning cut her way towards the goal along the left baseline before poking home a shot through the defence.

Panorama found the lead for the first time just a matter of minutes later when Taleisha Bartlett finished off a pass from Kelsey Nancarrow.

The match looked certain to remain 2-1 going into half-time but Thurlow had other ideas, nailing a shot to the bottom left corner.

The early stages of the second half belonged to Panorama but despite a slew of opportunities they couldn't convert.

Instead it was Thurlow who stepped up when it mattered most on the hour mark.

Thurlow entered through the right side of the box and lobbed a shot over Morgan to put her side back in front.

Panorama threw plenty of bodies forward in the late stages and almost found an equaliser through Emily Cochrane but the shot was left of the mark.
