ELECTRICAL students competed at TAFE NSW Bathurst on Friday for the chance to join fellow bright sparks at a national competition next year.

Tom O'Leary, Nick Fisher and Joe Degiorgio took part in the regional WorldSkills electrical control competition.
They are three of thousands of apprentices, trainees and students who will take part in skill competitions across Australia this year in areas from plumbing to beauty therapy to IT systems.
The winners of the various competitions may then be invited to take part in the WorldSkills Australia National Championships in 2020.

Mr O'Leary, a third-year student from Bathurst who was chosen to take part in the national competition the last time it was held two years ago, said it was a good chance to test his skills.
"It's something different, a bit of a challenge," he said.
Mr Fisher, a second-year student from Orange who had not competed before, said it was a chance to "test out my skill level compared to everyone else".
Mr Degiorgio, who lives in Bathurst but works in Orange, competed but said he was not eligible to go any further in the competition.
The Bathurst competition's organiser Matt Ware said those who take part in the 2020 national competition may then be eligible for the 2021 international competition in Shanghai.
"It's very similar to sporting achievement in the sense that you go through regional, national, international," he said.
Those who took part in the Bathurst competition worked on an industrial roller door control and were judged on their layout, neatness, functionality and safety.
Mr Fisher finished first, Mr O'Leary a close second and Mr Degiorgio third.
