He scored his second try of the decider Saints.
Moments later he pulled another trick out of his bag. In the blustery, swirling wind he landed the pressure conversion to lock things up at 12-all and send the match into extra-time.
"It was a good 20-25 metres off centre and it was really windy, it was just brilliant. For a 12 13-year-old boy to have that level of calmness to make that kick was just exceptional," St Pat's coach Tony England said of the conversion.
Once in extra-time the Saints found the match winner via Lachlin Randall to deny Mudgee a fifth consecutive premiership.
It was a try that earned Randall plenty of hugs from his team-mates, but it was Branda who was the real hero for the blue and whites.
It was acknowledged after the final siren with a man of the match award.
"He went out with player of the grand final, he just had a massive, massive game of football. He was in everything," England said of the talented number 13.
"I didn't do a tackle count, but it would have been well high, he was just almost in every tackle.
"There was one point where he did about four tackles in one set of six, he was all over it, he just wanted it so badly."
