The winning ticket, bought at Keppel Street Newsagency, was one of four winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 3981.
Each winner will receive $960,296.23.
The Bathurst couple, who have asked to remain anonymous, confirmed the win with a NSW Lotteries official on Monday morning.

"Thank you. Thank you so much," the man said when officials confirmed the win.
"This is absolutely wonderful.
"We checked the ticket after the draw on Saturday night and we've probably checked it dozens of times since then.
"I was in the middle of brushing my teeth when my wife shouted out to me to tell me we'd won division one. I just about choked on my toothpaste."
The pair plans to share some of the windfall with family and put the rest towards their retirement.
"It's certainly going to make our retirement a whole lot more exciting," the woman said.
Keppel Street Newsagency owners Paul and Sue Cregan said this was their first Division One winning entry for several years but the newsagency has sold a number of $100,000 winners in the Jackpot Lottery.
They were thrilled to hear of Saturday's win.
"It was the best news to discover on Sunday morning when we opened the store," they said.
"We had a feeling all week that we'd sell a Division One winning entry and we did.
"Congratulations to the winners. We have no doubt they will really enjoy their prize."
The winning numbers in Saturday night's draw were 27, 39, 7, 41, 38 and 20, and supplementary numbers 9 and 43.
Saturday's win comes as local newsagencies also prepare for a rush of entries ahead of Thursday's record $150 million Powerball draw.
