The preliminary final went the way of Kelso to the tune of 3-2, with a stack of Premier League Hockey talent in action.
Both teams took their time to work their way into the game but it was Kelso who crucially hit their stride first.
Kelso found the opening goal although their advantage was short lived when Pat's found the reply.
Through the middle of the match Kelso had the ascendancy and they were able to convert their momentum into two more goals.
However, Pat's again refused to back down and brought the margin back to one goal to set up an exciting finish.
Kelso's Maureen Markwick said the side were superb through the middle of the field.
"It was a really great start for us. It was probably our midfield where the game was won," she said.
"They held the centre very well. There were great games there from Lisa Quinn and Kirsten Howard and they were very strong in defence.
"We had Kylie Tattersall in goal, Maddie's mother. When Kylie's in goal Maddie comes out on the field to play in the defence. Maddie's probably one of the best goalkeepers in Premier League but when she comes onto the field she holds her own."

The path to the grand final has been extra satisfying for Kelso after they entered the season unsure of how they would fare.
"We've had a great season after we started with a new-look team," Markwick said.
"The competition itself has been exceptionally close the whole way through the year. Everyone's beaten each other though Souths have probably separated themselves from the pack a little bit.
"It will be a tough first grade grand final against them."
