HIS tee time didn't give him the most favourable conditions but that couldn't stop Bathurst Golf Club trainee professional Dylan Thompson from taking his first tour win of the year at Strathfield on Monday.

Thompson shot an even round of 70 to take out the Strathfield Open Trainee Match, scoring a hole-in-one on his way to a one stroke victory ahead of Billy Watson.
Thompson and Watson were among the last group to tee off in the field of 26 competitors.
Their tee off time later in the afternoon threatened to throw a spanner in the works.
The calmer conditions from earlier in the day began to gave way to blustery conditions as Thompson and the final group made their way onto the back nine.
Thompson had never paid a visit to the Strathfield course so it made it an already challenging task that extra bit harder.

The Bathurst trainee believed there was a bit of luck involved in his round but was happy to notch up a win in 2019.
"The first six to eight holes were pretty calm but after that there were big gusts coming over. There were winds over 60km/h," he said.
"I got a bit lucky towards the end where I made a couple of up and downs from places I shouldn't have, and that always helps.
"I was missing a couple of fairways towards the end but a few nice approach shots and putts saved it."
Thompson's score looks more impressive when put against the rest of the field.
The tough conditions wreaked havoc on the rounds of several players, leading to an average score across the field of nearly 11 over par.
Thompson put his round down to an improved practice schedule.
"I'd been struggling a bit since the start of this year but it's nice to have some golf coming back," he said.
"I'd been putting in a lot of practice lately. It had been hard to find the time but it's getting there. It's mainly been chipping and putting that's been the struggle - the part that helps you win - so it's good having some of that again."
While it's a breakthrough win for Thompson this year it's not the first time he's tasted success on the PGA Australia Trainee Tour.
His victory at Strathfield adds to his successes on the tour at the Hurstville, Riverside Oaks Open (both 2018), Highlands, Liverpool (both 2017).
Thompson looks away from the PGA Australia Trainee Tour for his next event, where he takes on the Nelson Bay Pro-Am.
"I'll have that then just a couple of trainee matches to finish the year off," Thompson said.
One of those events that will be on Thompson's radar in the run towards the season's end will be the Bathurst Trainee Pro-Am on November 11.
