Not since Workman's Club won the grand final in 2014 has the trophy left Bathurst, having been shared between three different local clubs in the past four seasons.
One of those three clubs was Abercrombie, who won its one and only men's premier league title back in 2015 with a 2-0 win over CSU.
On that day the club wore an all yellow kit but now the club's is donned in all navy (bar yellow socks).
Abercrombie captain Josh Brown said his side's controversial loss to Workman's Club in the major semi-final - where the referee judged that Abercrombie goalkeeper Nathan Maxwell had made illegal contact with an opposition resulting in a match-winning penalty for Lithgow - will be a big incentive come Sunday.
"It did hurt because at the end of the day, the result wasn't in our hands which makes it a lot harder," he said.
"If we lost fair and square, then it's a bit easier to take.
"We want to win and having Lithgow as a big rival this season, it would be good to get the win against them."
Workman's Club won the minor premiership by 15 points ahead of Abercrombie, who finished second, losing just two games during the regular season.
However, those two losses came against Abercrombie.
"Lithgow have done an excellent job this season, being clear front runners for the minor premiership," Brown said.
"We've actually done quite well against them this year. We've been there or thereabouts with them all year.
"Now we're the only Bathurst team left, so we're representing Bathurst.
"The past three to four years, I'd say CSU and Panorama have been the dominant side. It's good to see a different team up there fighting for mantle this year."
Brown mentioned both Alex Finall and Damian Booth as two players he expects to have a big game on Sunday.
"This year, one of my fellow teammates from CSU a few years ago, Alex Finall came across and slotted into centre back," Brown explained.
"He's done really well. He's very organised, knows what he has to do and is very vocal, which helps our team.
"Damian Booth is another fantastic player, with excellent skills. He always does the job, knows what to do, plays hard and is very passionate. I think he'll be key in our game on the weekend."
Abercrombie qualified for the grand final with a 6-4 win over Panorama Red in the preliminary final last Sunday.
Abercrombie will face Lithgow Workman's Club on Sunday at 5pm on Proctor Park 1.
