I have been there several times - to visit its excellent Roman museum, walk its fascinating streets, take in its ancient history and generally to give thanks to Governor Macquarie for bestowing upon our city the name of the humane, bookish 3rd Earl Bathurst, Secretary of State for the Colonies.

I do not know what size delegation is needed to secure the linkage between us and Cirencester and I am not suggesting any more than about two or three would be junketeering, but if they need a bag carrier, butler or bellhop I offer the mayor my services.
