Parade read a feel-good story recently about one of the overnight guests, who had stayed at the shelter for about four weeks.
He decided it was time for him to move on, but before he left, he said a big thank you to the shelter for all the help he had received.
In the time he was at the shelter he not only had a bed to sleep in, food and access to a bathroom, but had found the strength to give up drugs.
Parade thinks it is wonderful that this community project is helping people and the volunteers behind it are being shown genuine gratitude.
A HINT OF GREEN PEEKING THROUGH
PARADE, like many other residents, has been disappointed to see her lawn turning into yellow straw.
She completely understands why Bathurst has water restrictions and she has obeyed them, but her face still falls when she looks over her lifeless backyard.
However, the recent burst of rain has done wonders.
The lawn is by no means a luscious green meadow, but there is certainly more colour to it.
Sadly, it doesn't look like there's much more rain coming this month to help invigorate the lawn before water restrictions tighten, but it's good to see that Bathurst has reached a long-term average rainfall figure after months of falling short.
A TAD TOO EARLY FOR SPORT? MAYBE
THERE'S nothing wrong with kids getting outside to play, whether that be in organised sport or just at home in the backyard.
But Parade can't help but think there needs to be a bit of courtesy when it comes to sport at home.
A friend of Parade's felt a little annoyed on Saturday when she was woken at 6.45am to the sound of kids playing basketball on the concrete in their backyard.
That family often plays basketball, but Parade's friend felt it was a bit early for something that noisy.
Parade thinks that if people are expected to wait until 8am on a Saturday to mow their lawns, then maybe a similar rule should apply to other noisy activities.
