LOCAL pre-schools and childcare centres will build a play space and cubby house and install new flooring using NSW Government grants.

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole announced the grants recently as part of the NSW Government's Quality Learning Environments program.
Goodstart Early Learning Kelso, which received $9887, will use its funds for a wooden play space; West Bathurst Pre-School, which received $8065, will add a cubby house to its play area; and Goodstart Early Learning Bathurst, which received $6350, will install sliding doors and flooring.

"These grants can be used to make physical improvements to early childhood services, like new gardens, jungle gyms or bathroom renovations, and can also assist the rollout of new learning programs, like music lessons or yoga classes," Mr Toole said.
"Research shows the cognitive, social and emotional benefits a quality early childhood education has on our children, so it is important that as a government we continue to make these important investments.
"Our future doctors, lawyers, farmers and teachers are being shaped in our pre-schools and long day care centres as we speak, so an investment in them really is an investment in our future."
Pre-schools and childcare centres can apply for grants of up to $10,000.
