Tight racing, heated competition and even one dog tumbled over in the Dukes Ladbrokes Video Maiden (307 metres) at Kennerson Park on Monday, but it was Drunken Phoenix ($7.50) who soared above the rest to claim victory.

After the boxes opened, Drunken Phoenix and Pebbles Cain ($3.40) pulled ahead of the chasing pack and it looked as if the two would battle it out to the finish.
But Senora Lilly ($10) wasn't going to give up without a fight and looked as if she might pose a threat coming into the home straight.
However, Rockstar Khali - who was building speed - collided into Senora Lilly, meaning the two-year-old black bitch was slowed down and missed her chance to keep up with the top two.
Rockstar Khali would fall, but was technically able to finish the race, however, the two-year-old brindle bitch's run would be officially recorded as "fell".
Drunken Phoenix would cruise to victory in a time of 18.15 seconds, ahead of Pebbles Cain and Simon Ralph ($2 favourite), who finished the race in second and third respectively.
Drunken Phoenix trainer Geoff Townsend - who's based at Molong - said his dog got a great start.
"She jumped well, which helps her a lot," he explained.
"She's been close a few times, getting a few knocks and checks around the track. She's going alright."
Townsend plans to bring Drunken Phoenix back to Bathurst next Monday.
The win from the Molong-trained bitch breaks her unlucky run of three consecutive third-place finishes, all achieved at Bathurst.
