Higgins and her six-piece band will be headlining the festival on Saturday, February 29 while legendary Australian rock group Killing Heidi will be the headline act on Friday, February 28.

Higgins says the Inland Sea of Sound will fit her unique sound and style perfectly.

"I'm super excited to visit Bathurst and headline the Inland Sea of Sound festival. It sounds like the kind of festival I would love to go to myself, so I think it's going to be just the right kind of vibe for my music," she said.

Mayor Bobby Bourke helped announce the lineup at the Inland Sea of Sound launch at Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre on Thursday, saying how excited he was to see the festival return.

"You look at the headline acts we have coming to Bathurst, Missy Higgins and Killing Heidi, of course Elton John before then. All these other acts look just great," he said.

"This looks like a fantastic event and 2020 looks like a great year. I'm looking forward to getting up to the Mount and seeing them."

Inland Sea of Sound curator Stephen Champion said the exciting lineup and unique location make the perfect combination for a regional festival.

He says that nest year's event could see Inland Sea of Sound take off as one of Australia's best music festivals.

"I think the 2020 event is where the Inland Sea of Sound is going to hit its straps. It's the best line-up yet. Yes, we have incredible headliners, but there are incredible artists all the way through the line-up," he said.

Killing Heidi frontwoman Ella Hooper says the event will be a chance for her band to return to regional NSW

"One of our favourite things to do since re-forming Killing Heidi is to go to regional places we haven't been in a while," she said.

"The energy is always amazing, like a homecoming. The band sounds better than ever and we can't wait to share the new show with Bathurst and be a part of such a sick line-up."

The festival will feature one its most diverse lineups yet.

Australian duo Mama Kin Spender, 2015 South Australian Male Artist of the year Timberwolf and former Voice contestant Thando are the primary support acts.

Each will bring an interesting alternative take on blues, soul and roots music.

The line-up will also have a Central West flavour with Gabbi Bolt and Amy Viola bringing their unique sounds to the Mount.

There will plenty of fun for the whole family with Lah Lah's Big Live Band entertaining crowds on both days, a kids space and regional food and drink.
