Some locations in the region, including Cowra and Mudgee, are expected to reach a top of 31 degrees, which is well above their respective tops for October of 22.7 and 23.1.
The very high fire danger rating is in place for the following council areas: Bathurst, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Lithgow, Mid-Western, Oberon and Orange.
Weather predictions for Friday, October 4:
- Bathurst - top of 28 degrees (Average maximum of 20.5 in October)
- Blayney - top of 24 degrees
- Cowra - top of 31 degrees (Average maximum of 22.7 in October)
- Lithgow - top of 25 degrees (Average maximum of 18.7 in October)
- Mudgee - top of 31 degrees (Average maximum of 23.1 in October)
- Oberon - top of 28 degrees (Average maximum of 17.2 in October)
- Orange - top of 24 degrees (Average maximum of 18.3 in October)
Residents in this area are urged to review their Bushfire Survival Plan with their family. Keep yourself informed and monitor conditions. Be ready to act if necessary.
There have already been a number of recent out-of-control fires in this region including a fire that burnt through a vineyard at Mudgee and escaped control burns lit by property owners around Bathurst and Lithgow.
