While Bathurst is gearing up for the summer main act, rock royalty Sir Elton John's concert at Carrington Park on January 22, there will be plenty of other big names visiting the region as well.
Just last week we had confirmation that Missy Higgins and Killing Heidi would be the star turns at the ever-growing Inland Sea of Sound festival on Mount Panorama on February 28-29 and now Orange is getting in on the act as well.
It's sure to be a sellout when legendary Australian rockers Cold Chisel headline A Day on the Green at Orange's Heifer Station Wines on Saturday, February 1.
The promoters confirmed on Wednesday that Cold Chisel had signed on for 14 Day on the Green performances between New Year's Eve and the second week of February, and would be supported by Birds of Tokyo and Magic Dirt in Orange.
Cold Chisel is calling it the Blood Moon Tour 2020 and songwriter Don Walker revealed something of a spooky coincidence surrounding the name.
"You might get to see a blood moon once in your life", Walker said.
"Apparently there's going to be one just before dawn when we're in Melbourne on this tour but we didn't actually know that when we chose the name. Maybe it's a sign."
Pre-sale tickets will go on-sale on Wednesday, October 16 at 2pm (local times) with general public on-sale from Monday, October 21 at 11am via official ticket links.
Firies help cat stuck up a pole
FIREFIGHTERS can never know for sure how their day is going to pan out, and it was a day with a difference for Oberon firies on Wednesday.
"411 [Oberon brigade] was responded to an assist public with eight-month-old tabby 'Jessica' stuck at the top of a telegraph pole," firefighters said in a statement.
"Due to the proximity to the live wires, the energy authorities were called to rescue Jessica who was safely returned to her owner."
