To say thanks for all the help the organisation receives from the Lions Club of Bathurst Macquarie, UnitingCare clients offered their time at the club's food van at the Bathurst 1000 Super Wednesday events.
UnitingCare care worker Shirley Colzato said it was also a good opportunity for the clients to be involved in the community.
"They are going out and doing things in the community that you and I would do ordinarily, but which some people don't get the opportunity to do," she said.
"It's nice to feel that engagement with the community."
OTHER BATHURST 1000 NEWS:
The Lions Club of Bathurst Macquarie donated a new sewing machine to UnitingCare in August which will be used for a sewing program to teach clients new skills.
A current Lions Club of Bathurst Macquarie project is to collect bottletops with a HDPE (high density polyethylene) rating of 2 or 4, such as milk bottle tops, so they can be crushed and made into plastic ribbon for 3D printers that then make prosthetic limbs.
Bottletops can be dropped at the Return and Earn collection centre at the Bathurst Community Op Shop.
