Saturday, October 12
The annual Great Race Festival Saturday Street Fair from 10am to 4pm will feature food and market stalls, entertainment by local artists and activities for the kids, including $2 rides. The Disney Kids' Zone, with Mack the Transporter and Lightning McQueen, is back.

Bathurst Library has a couple of upcoming events. Author Judy Nunn will speak at the library about her new book Khaki Town from 6.15pm on October 15 and a free talk on legal rights under the National Disability Insurance Scheme will be held on Friday, October 18 from 11am. Thursday, October 17
Andrew Fletcher will talk about the stories Bathurst's World War One veterans never told when he speaks at the next Bathurst District Historical Society Monthly Muster. Hear how nurses suffered great hardships just to keep nursing the men, and British officers' opinion on Australian troops. The Monthly Musters are held in the Uniting Church Activities Hall in William Street, opposite Machattie Park. Musters, which are open to the public, start at 7.30pm.

Charles Sturt University Bathurst graduate Charlotte Wood will talk about her latest book, The Weekend, at the Victoria from 6pm. Tickets are $15 and available from BooksPlus on 6331 5994 or by emailing admin@booksplus.com.au.

Coming up
Holy Trinity Spring Fair will be held in the Parish and Community Centre at 81 Gilmour Street, Kelso on Saturday, October 19 from 9am to 1pm. Stalls will include white elephant, books, craft, cakes, bargains for blokes, bling and Christmas gifts. There will also be a barbecue, Devonshire teas and a chocolate wheel. Raffle will be drawn at 1pm.
Can Assist Bathurst will hold a fundraising Christmas lunch at the Bathurst RSL on November 14. Cost for the lunch is $40 per person and it will feature a two-course meal, tea and coffee, raffle prizes and lucky door competition. Call Barbara Piddington on 6332 1036 for tickets.
