The tournament, which ran from September 29 to October 5, crowned the national champions for girls and boys across four ages - under 14s, under 15s, under 17s and under 19s.
Macson Alexander was one of the Denison students that competed in the tournament, as he featured for NSW in the oldest age group - boys under 19s.
"My team through the week performed really well but towards the end of the week other teams started playing better so we were slowly being knocked out of medal contention," he explained.
"In our third last game we needed to win convincingly to make a medal appearance and we did. And the next day we played South Australia to get into the gold medal match and we did that."
It was a tough match against South Australia, with NSW down two sets to one, but recovered to win the last two sets 25-16 and 15-7 to progress to the gold medal match against Queensland Maroon.
Unfortunately NSW were able to defeat their northern rivals, going down in three sets 15-25, 18-25, 21-25.
"The quality from the other teams was very good they were very skilful and performed very well together," Alexander said.
