Five men have been arrested in relation to hundreds of cannabis plants allegedly seized from three different crime scenes.

As part of the operation, hundreds of plastic pots, air-conditioning ducts, bags of fertiliser, power cords, lights and other equipment used for the manufacture of indoor cannabis were seized from a home in Stonestreet Place, Windradyne and taken for examination.

Police also allege three-phase power had been illegally re-routed into the property.
Police said two of the men arrested as part of the operation were in Australia illegally.
One was a 66-year-old man arrested at a Marrangaroo property where police seized 60 cannabis plants of varying maturity and the second was a 41-year-old Vietnamese man arrested at Stonestreet Place.
Three more men of Vietnamese nationality were arrested in Canowindra where police allege 300 cannabis plants were seized.
Chifley Police District Acting Superintendent Luke Rankin said the alleged discovery of three hydro houses was disturbing on a number of levels.
"Including these four premises police have now located seven hydro houses in the Chifley Police District in the last three months," he said.
"There are a number of issues that cause us concern. Obviously one is that they are being used to allegedly cultivate prohibited drugs; another is they are very unsafe.
"Offenders have been stealing electricity by using shonky by-passes that pose a major risk of causing fire. Chemicals and processes used in the growing process can also be dangerous."

He said police were also concerned by criminals moving to the city to operate the houses.
Acting Superintendent Rankin said the recent hydro houses located in the Chifley area have all had things in common: the property was recently sold, electrical work was undertaken and cars and vans visit intermittently and at odd hours.
