He was one of four children who were chosen to attend the Bathurst 1000 as part of the inaugural Dunlop Grid Kids program.
Working with Karting Australia, Dunlop gives selected motor sport fans aged between 12 and 16 years a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent Dunlop on the starting grid as brand ambassadors.
Lawson has followed in his father's footsteps and developed a love of karting, with the hope that it will one day lead him into a career in motor sport.
Racing at Bathurst is one of his ambitions.
He was excited to have been chosen as a Dunlop Grid Kid, looking forward to having a behind-the-screens insight of the industry.
In addition to having access to the paddock, Lawson got to stand on the grid ahead of the 250-kilometre Super2 race and be a representative for Dunlop at the podium presentation.
He and the other grid kids also met Dick Johnson Racing Team Penske driver Scott McLaughlin, who went on to stand on the top step of the podium after Sunday's Great Race.
Tony Kiernan, the senior brand manager from Goodyear and Dunlop Tyres Australia, said Dunlop was proud to be creating unique experiences for kids like Lawson.
"Dunlop's program is a fantastic chance to provide the future talent of motor sport a glimpse into the Supercars paddock, where they can mingle with their heroes", he said.
