A CROWD of more than 20,000 is now expected for Bathurst's Sir Elton John concert in January after promoters announced more tickets would go on sale on Monday.

Chugg Entertainment said on Friday that a change to the capacity for Carrington Park for the Sir Elton show meant 2000 standing-on-the-hill spaces and 400 "Sapphire" seats at the back of the field could be added.
Mayor Bobby Bourke said space at Carrington Park had been put on hold by council "until the site layout was finalised".
"We have rearranged temporary structures to allow for more standing space and more chairs to fit on the field," he said.
"When tickets went on sale in February, the demand was really high so we started looking at options to allow more people the opportunity to be part of the event."

The standing section is for the grass behind the seated sections.
Cr Bourke said "at this stage", council anticipated this would be the final increase in capacity.
Michael Chugg from tour promoters Chugg Entertainment said he was pleased with the response to the concert, saying it had "all come together very well".
He said he'd been confident the Bathurst show would be successful.
"I was hoping it would sell out. It's a pretty big catchment area," he said.
In terms of the release of more tickets, he said it had been in the works for some time.
"It's an ever-changing world when you do a regional show where nothing of this size has been done before," he said.
The 2000 extra standing tickets will cost $119 and the extra Sapphire seats $139. As well, what is described as a final "smattering" of tickets across all price types will go on sale on Monday.
