Ms Cheevers is competing in the Massive Murray Paddle in a kayak, and will cover 404km in just five days.
She said she's never done anything like it before, but enjoys a challenge and wanted to raise "as money as possible" for the Daffodil Wig Library.
Ms Cheevers started dragon boat racing and loved it, and from there started kayaking. Having decided to compete in the challenge, she's been practicing every day at both Ben Chifley Dam and Lake Canobolas.
She said she averages 30km a day, and hopes its enough to prepare her for the hard slog ahead.
But no matter how hard it is, she said she's "determined to finish" the race.
Mandy Wilding from the Daffodil Wig Library said they were delighted to be benefactors.
"People are just so generous," she said.
Ms Wilding said the wig library is completely funded by the Bathurst community, and all donations are used to replenish sock including wigs, head wear and liners.
The library currently has about 200 wigs.
