Track improvements had been completed to ensure that it continues to be rated at an international standard, with initial works undertaken by Bathurst Regional Council staff and a special contractor to shape the track surface to Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) standards.
Bathurst BMX Club members had their first chance to try out the new track on Friday, October 18, with members "stoked" according to club representative Greg Westman.
"Riders were really impressed with the new straight, particularly," he said.
"The kids are really loving it, saying it flows really well. They love the surface; it's smooth and fast.
"The boys think its fantastic too because there'll be a lot less maintenance work. It's a good win all round with the new surface.
"We've started with a world class facility, but it's now top of the class. It would probably be one of the best tracks on the globe."
Work upgrading the BMX track's surface began back in September, with club members unable to train or race at the facility until work was complete.
The new track surface replaces the old dirt one.
"The entire track is built out of granite. It's actually standing on an old granite quarry," Mr Westman explained.
"It's a very hard wearing surface, it's weather proof and it's going to be a fantastic complement to the club."
Because of the new surface, rain will no longer call-off racing at the track for extended time.
The track is set to host the world's best BMX racers when the city hosts a round of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in February 2020.
It will be the first time a World Cup round has been held in Australia and a massive coup for Bathurst Regional Council which built the city's new $1.5 million BMX track to host the national titles in 2016.
The event will serve as qualifying rounds for Australian riders hoping to make the team for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
