Wallabies president Richard Blackie said the delay in the start of the triathlon season was because of other events clashing including the Mount Panorama Punish and the Carcoar Running Festival.
"We tried to avoid as many clashes as possible to get as many people as possible down to our event," he said.

And after a successful season in 2018-19, in terms of numbers and women's participation, Blackie wants to see that continue.
"It'd be great to build on the numbers we had last season," he said.
"We've continued our women's program, which we started for the first time last season. This year we've done it slightly different, with getting CityFit involved with 35 women signing up through the CityFit program.
"We'll be building towards the women's triathlon on December 1, so we'll try and build the momentum as much as we can so we can get as many people as possible.
"I think people are getting more active, getting out and about more and getting involved with the club.
"We're always hoping to get quite a lot of juniors involved. With the women, often the families and the kids come too."
Last year's inaugural women's only triathlon event proved to be extremely popular - with 100 competitors taking part - with the course a 200 metre swim, a 16 kilometre bike ride and a two and a half kilometre run.
That women's only triathlon last year led to an explosion in the number of females who went on to compete alongside the men at Wallabies club races.
Seven Bathurst events will be held throughout the 2019-20 season, on November 10, December 1 (Women's event), December 15, January 26 (Bathurst Inter-club), February 23, March 29 and April 5 (Carroll/Scott Memorial Round.
The Australia Day triathlon has been traditionally well support by local triathletes and visiting ones from other clubs in the Central West region.
The inter-club away rounds will be on November 17 (Mudgee), February 9 (Dubbo), February 16 (Orange) and March 22 (Cowra).
Seniors starts at 8am, with juniors at 9.30am. Participants can register in advance via the triathlon Facebook page.
