Riders will be converging on Sydney Motorsport Park at Eastern Creek from various directions for the annual Soar and Roar event on Sunday, December 8 to raise money for the Special Olympics.

One of the routes to Eastern Creek will be from Bathurst, where riders will set off from Ash's Speedway Museum on Bradwardine Road, do a lap of Mount Panorama and then set off for the big smoke.

Organiser Ken Lovegrove said the celebrity on the Bathurst route will be John Langfield, a solo speedway motorcycle great.

"The rides are open to all registered styles of motorcycles and licensed riders," he said.

"Registration will cost each rider $35 and the ride from Bathurst will be flagged away by the mayor Bobby Bourke."

He said entry to the Soar and Roar event at Eastern Creek, which will feature trade and club displays, will be free for the public and gates will be open from 7am to 4pm.
