GAMERS came from across Australia and New Zealand to compete in the Star Wars X-Wing Grand Championship which was held at Game On Cards and Games over the weekend.

The two day event attracted 77 competitors on Saturday in the knock out and 58 on Sunday.
Ann Bantoft, who owns Game On Cards and Games, said only one Australian event is held every year and Bathurst was lucky enough to be selected for it, beating hosts in major Australian cities in the process.
"We had to put in an application why we felt we were the best store to hold it," she said.
She said the store spoke about the success of previous events and the fact their location meant participants had easy access to the CBD and near by accommodation, as well as all the other benefits the city offers.
David Moloney, 36, said competition during the two-day event was top class, with the event live streamed around the world.
He described Star Wars X-Wing as a tactical game where opponents try and capture each other ships.
"The game is very popular at the moment, it's one of the fastest selling miniature games in the world."
The top four players in the tournament all get invited to the World championships in Minnesota in 2020, and the winner gets their flights paid.
