But by the end of July, Centennials confirmed they would join the new competition and the now they've started the 2019-20 campaign in raging hot form, winning its first two matches to start the season.

That most recent victory for Bulls came against Centrals on Saturday, with Centennials claiming first innings victory against the Orange-based side.

Bulls entered day two after hitting 178, with brothers Kyle and Blake Aubin hitting top scores of 29 and 50 respectively, with Centrals finishing at 2-64 by stumps.

On day two, new Centennials captain Kurt Toole ripped in with the ball, taking four of the first five wickets of day - Zac Riemer (a duck), Hamish McIntyre (one run), George Olsen (a duck) and Logan Buckley (20 runs).

Centrals were eventually dismissed for 117, with Toole finishing with figures of 4-23 off 16 overs.

"I think overall it was a good performance," Toole said.

"Everyone contributed in some way, so overall it was a team effort."

Bulls had the chance to bat again and raced to 3-166 thanks to half centuries from Ryan (50) and Joel Gurney (51), before declaring.

They weren't able to take a second innings win however, with Centrals finishing with 2-66 come stumps.

Toole said his team has found motivation form the fact that his side wasn't given a strong chance during the 2019-20 season.

"It is a good start. I think all the papers gave us motivation because everyone wrote us off and said we're never going to do any good," he said.

"So I think we're playing off that motivation to play good. Two wins from two games is pretty good.

"The Aubin brothers have probably impressed me the most in the first two games. They've both contributed in both games. They've both got runs too and we didn't have them last season, so they've been a big plus to our team.

"Last season, the bowling wasn't one of our weaknesses, but the batting was. But this year, they've definitely strengthened our bowling up."

Centennials are now the only undefeated Bathurst side in the competition, a big effort considering the side had not originally nominated for BOIDC.

And last season, Centennials won only one game from 12 rounds of the Bathurst District Cricket Association first grade, losing all five of their two day games too.

Bulls will look to continue its strong form when they take on Bathurst City at the Sportsground on Saturday, November 16.
