Hot favourite Oxley Blue Eyes, who had won all her previous three career wins at the Bathurst track, jumped from box two in the Ladbrokes Back Yourself Stakes (307 metres).
And the two-year-old blue fawn bitch was made to work with it, being closely pursued by Stagger Out Bert ($4.20) right to the very end, with Oxley Blue Eyes finishing just ahead of the Paul Strutt chance.
Robert Johnston's Teddie Goodwin actually got the best start from the boxes, but the $41 outsider slipped away and finished last, even after winning his last start at Bathurst in late October.
Sultana - who is based in the Western Sydney suburb of Londonderry - enjoyed further success in the next race, the Ladbrokes Info Hub 0-2 Wins Stakes (520 metres).
His one-year-old black dog Highly Effective ($1 favourite) started from box two too, and in the dog's seventh start, he powered himself to victory by just a head over Shannon Kirby's Silent Shadow ($6).
However, Sultana's good fortune came to end in the fifth race of the afternoon, the Ladbrokes Multimaker Stakes (307 metres).
Miss Duggie ($7), who had also drawn box two (all his three starters on Monday had drawn the same box) ran seventh
Miss Duggie didn't enjoy a great jump at the start and struggled to improve, especially after the second favourite Husky Hoofs ($2.80) fell, with the win going to Tammin ($4), trained by The Rock's Joanne Smith.
