Former youngsters Tanvir Singh and Nic Broes helped guide St Pat's to victory in last season's final, holding on to beat Orange City by 23 runs back in March.
However, a loss to CYMS in October wasn't the ideal start to the team's new campaign in the Twenty20 competition.
"It was a hard one to swallow after we lost the first one, but that's the nature of Twenty20," skipper Adam Ryan, who didn't play in the first match, said.
"Hopefully we can use that as motivation in Friday's game to make sure we're playing at our best and not taking anyone lightly."
One team that has excelled in the revived Bathurst Orange Inter-District Cricket (BOIDC) competition is Kinross, who has been bolstered by former Sydney University player James Larkin for the 2019-20 summer.
Kinross have won one game from two in BOIDC, enjoying a thumping win against City Colts in the latest round, however, it's Royal Hotel Cup campaign looks all but over after losing its opening two matches.
Regardless, Ryan said he won't be taking the game lightly against the Orange-based side.
"I think they've shown some good former in the other competition [BOIDC] and are playing well, so we've got to be on our game," he said.
"Anyone can win it on their day, which is the beauty of the competition. I'm just hoping that the boys put in a really good performance."
St Pat's are expected to welcome several juniors into its squad for Friday's match, including Ben Cant, Cooper Brien and Hugh Parsons.
Cant is another St Pat's junior that is showing plenty of promise, after featuring in Bathurst's washed out match against Mudgee in the Rod Hartas Trophy on November 3.
He's also captain of the Scots All Saints College's ISA division one side, which Parsons also plays in.
Brien also had an unbeaten knock of 137 for Saint Stanislaus' College against Oakhill earlier this month in ISA division one too.
"They're promising juniors and it's something we pride ourselves on, bringing them through," Ryan said.
"We've been lucky to have some great talents come through so far.
"They're all doing well and it's good that we've got these mid-week games so we can keep them involved in the squad, instead of waiting for when they've got byes or weekends off."
Friday's match between St Pat's Old Boys and Kinross will get underway at 6.30pm from Wade Park in Orange.
