The Platypi ran in five tries to two against the Goannas in the final round of the regular season last Saturday, taking their record to four wins from five rounds.
It cemented the Michael Roels coached outfit second place on the ladder, but more importantly gave them a confidence boost ahead of this Sunday's semi-final against the same opponent.
The Platypi had not previous managed a win over the Goannas, having posted a draw and a two-point semi-final loss to the Dubbo-based outfit in their inaugural season.
"They are working really well together at the moment, they are really gelling," Roels said. "It will be a tough one, but they are going to be up on everything now."
The semi-final will kick off at 11am at Forbes' Spooner Oval, with the victor to meet the winner of the Orange Vipers versus Woodbridge Cup qualifier in the grand final.
