Cain was selected in the under 14s squad earlier this month, after participating at a carnival at Dubbo.
He's been selected alongside a host of gun juniors from across the Central West, including from Orange, Nyngan, Dubbo, Condobolin, Mudgee, West Wyalong and Cowra.
"It's a pretty big deal to be selected," he said.
"The area is basically of a majority of NSW, so to be selected is pretty good."
When not playing for St Stanislaus' College second grade team, Cain plays for the Bathurst Bushrangers, a team that his father Stephen Cain plays a big part.
Cain - who's a pace bowler - has been playing cricket since he was five and said his family has played a big role in his love for the sport.
"I've been playing cricket since I was five, which is nine years ago now," he said.
"I love the passion in cricket, which was handed down from my grandfather, to my dad and then to me. It's a family sport."
The 14-year-old Year 8 students mentioned three people that have played a key role in him being selected in the Kookaburra Cup squad.
"There's three people I want to thank. Mainly Greg Griffith - he's my bowling coach and batting coach. Without him I wouldn't be here because he's been helping with my cricketing ability and stuff like that," he said.
"Dad obviously, for getting me to the games and supporting me and definitely my grandfather [Peter Cain] too, because he's my idol."
The Kookaburra Cup - which runs from January 7-10 in Albury - is an important starting point in the ACT-Country NSW Pathway.
Players from the 2020 Kookaburra Cup will be identified to participate in the 2020 Cricket NSW Under 14s State Challenge, which will be held at Dubbo from January 21-24, 2020.
Players that are selected for the Dubbo tournament will be selected into four teams - Northern NSW (players from Central North and North Coast), Greater Hunter (Newcastle and Central Coast), Riverina/Western and South East NSW/ACT (Greater Illawarra and ACT/Southern District).
Cain's Western Kookaburra Cup squad will be coached by Greg Rummans, managed by Greg Griffith and Brad Broes will be assistant coach.
