The annual activity sees a number of primary school students get together to help repurpose flowers from the Kings Parade garden beds at the conclusion of spring.
Five schools took part in yesterday's event: Cathedral School, Bathurst West Public, Bathurst Public, Carenne School and St Philomena's.
Councillor Graeme Hanger said Bathurst Regional Council launched the initiative in 2017 for students to participate in an act of goodwill for senior citizens in the community.
"The flowers were planted in April and have reached their use-by date, so this activity is a great way for students to offer a kind gesture for residents in Bathurst's aged care facilities," Cr Hanger said.
"This gesture adds a few more days of life to the flowers, and provides some much-needed spring cheer for seniors who may not receive many visitors."
Cr Hanger said each school was allocated an aged care facility to deliver to, providing an opportunity for students to converse with seniors.
"The students get to share a glass of water and a biscuit with residents while talking them through their particular floral arrangements," he said.
"It's a win-win situation for all involved, and a feel-good activity for local schools to get behind."
The students were assisted by Vanessa Pringle Floral Designs owner Vanessa Pringle, who said flowers are great way to brighten up anyone's day.
"A lot of people in nursing homes don't get a lot of visitors, so these arrangements are sure to add colour to their rooms," Ms Pringle said.
"This activity also provides an opportunity for students to get their hands dirty and learn about different floral arrangements."
The students arranged posies into large boxes for delivery to various aged care facilities throughout the Bathurst region.
