ST Stanislaus' College student Jack Lynch has progressed to the next round the Lions Youth of the Year Quest after impressing judges in Bathurst this month.

This Lions initiative has been running for several decades and aims to give young people the opportunity to express their opinions and aims for the future.
Lions select students who are great all-rounders to represent their school, club, district and state. Eventually, a national winner is selected at the annual Lions conference.

In order to move to the next round, Jack had to stand out above some stiff competition from candidates Simi Atluri, of Scots All Saints College, and Denison College Bathurst's Griffin Elliott.
Each student had informal interviews with the three judges, Darren Channells from NAB, and Angus and Marguerite McKibbin.
That evening, they attended a dinner at Bathurst RSL Club and were asked to speak to an audience of family, special guests and Lions Club members.
They had to deliver speeches and provide insightful answers to impromptu questions.
The winner of the public speaking section was Simi Atluri, however it was Jack who was selected to progress to the next round in March 2020.
"Congratulations to all students, as it is a great reflection of the esteem in which they are held by their schools and what a pleasure it is to see and hear such intelligent and erudite young people," Graham Carter, the YOTY chairman of the Macquarie Lions Club of Bathurst, said.
"The Macquarie Lions Club wish Jack all the best for the next round of the quest."
