The event, scheduled for The Victoria Bathurst on Friday, December 6, will be headlined by Sydney groovers The Soul Movers, featuring founding member Lizzie Mack and former Red Wiggle [and Orange local] Murray Cook.

They will be joined by Bathurst acts Smith & Jones [Abby Smith and Sophie Jones] and The Gents.

After a well-received show at the same venue in September, Cook said The Soul Movers were keen to return to Bathurst as soon as possible.

"I feel our sound is compatible with Smith & Jones, and this gig will allow Bathurst music fans to bring on Christmas with some unique original music," he said.

The Soul Movers are using the release of their latest single, 'Shake It Loose,' as a key promotional point for the upcoming show, which Mack said was inspired by Cook's past in The Wiggles.

"'Shake It Loose' came about after a gig in Melbourne earlier this year where all these adults were up front dancing themselves silly as if they were five years old again," she said.

"They did all these 60s-style dances which were inspired by various species of animals, and we immediately noticed it had kind of a Wiggles vibe to it."

For Cook, the incorporation of co-ordinated dance moves with the crowd has allowed him to re-appropriate his Wiggles-era persona for adult crowds.

"I resisted my past for quite some time, but people in their 20s keep coming to our gigs interested in what I'm up to and at the same time, they're introduced to some funky new tunes."

Smith & Jones have had a busy year of their own promoting sophomore album Something Worth Learning, with the pair eager to branch out their music to different audiences.

"Some of our favourite gigs have been completely out of the box alongside artists we've never performed with," Jones said.

"You meet so many musicians along the way, and that's how you continue to expand your audience," Smith added.

The gig will get under way at 7.30pm. Tickets cost $25 and are available online.
