The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a top of just 14 degrees Celsius on Monday - 12 degrees below the average December maximum and close to the lowest ever December maximum of 12.7 degrees recorded in 1968.
It will come on the back of a cool change expected to blow through the region tonight, with a severe weather warning now in place for the Central Tablelands.

Residents are warned to brace for high winds this evening and possible showers.
Monday is also forecast to bring a shower or two, with a 70 per cent chance of up to 8mm of rain.
The cold snap will hit Oberon even harder, with a forecast top of just 11 degrees for the secind day of summer.
