A SLIGHTLY soggy start has greeted many Central West residents on Monday with overnight rainfall recorded across the region.

The second day of summer will be a cool one with below average temperatures predicted and, for some locations, a little more rain.
Overnight on Sunday, most locations received a sprinkling of rain with Orange recording the most at 8.2 millimetres by 7.30am.

Young wasn't too far behind with 6.4mm, Parkes received 6.2mm, while Forbes had 4.8mm.
Cowra also had overnight rainfall with 4.0mm recorded, while 3.4mm fell in Bathurst, 1.8mm in Dubbo, 1.6mm in Mudgee and just 0.4mm in Lithgow.

Cooler than average temperatures are also predicted to start the working week. Expected maximums are:
- Bathurst 14 degrees
- Cowra 11 degrees
- Dubbo 11 degrees
- Forbes 11 degrees
- Grenfell 16 degrees
- Lithgow 13 degrees
- Mudgee 17 degrees
- Oberon 15 degrees
- Orange 11 degrees
- Parkes 17 degrees
- Wellington 20 degrees
- Young 16 degrees
For the rest of Monday up to 5mm of rain is predicted in Bathurst, Cowra, Mudgee and Orange; while less than 1mm is expected in Dubbo, Forbes, Lithgow, Parkes and Young.
