HOLY Family School science star Eric Wang now has a medal to show for his dominance in a recent statewide competition.
Eric, 8, finished in first place in the 2019 NSW ICAS (International Competitions and Assessments for Schools) University of NSW Science Competition - making him the highest scoring year two student in the state.
He attended the University of NSW medal ceremony recently and came home with a gold medal for his efforts.
Holy Family School principal Kevin Arrow said the ICAS competitions, which were all completed online this year, "have a long history and large cohorts compete in the various subject tests each year".
"The competition tests scientific thinking, problem solving, knowledge and understandings of various science topics," he said.
Mr Arrow said Eric "is a hard working student and he deserves his first place".
"Our school has supported the teaching of science as a priority, and the excellent work of our teachers is reflected in this high student achievement," he said.
