Clare Eastlake, who owned the display and had only hung the lights up in the last few days, said she went to bed on Tuesday night and they were fine.
"I can see them from my bedroom window, but when I got up to go to the gym early Wednesday, they weren't there, so I went out to have a look and found the lights cut in several places."
Given the cords were cut with scissors, she said she thinks who ever did it deliberately targets houses with displays.
Clare said it's the second year she's put up lights at Christmas, and does it because people in the community seem to enjoy a bit of festive spirit.
"I've never had problems before, I was pretty upset when I found them, devastated really. I can't believe someone would do this."
She said she purchased the lights especially for Christmas, and spent about $150 making sure she had enough.
Now the lights are ruined, she said she wont be doing anything like it again.
