After a pair of wins and a close runner-up finish at Narromine a week ago, The Long Run heads to Mudgee's meeting this Friday chasing a share of a $50,000 prize pool in the Benchmark 58 Showcase Handicap (1,200 metres).
Something in The Long Run's favour is that one of those recent wins came at Mudgee, and it gives her an unbeaten record from two starts at the track.
However, the step up from Class 1 to a showcase-level benchmark 58 presents a significant rise in grade.
Apprentice Ashleigh Stanley has the ride on her father's mare and her presence will give a valuable three kilogram allowance.
Stanley has a second runner contesting the meeting with his recent stable addition Cloudless Sky running in the Maiden Showcase Plate (1,200m).
