On the back of a five-race winning streak, Amanda Turnbull's Sonny Weaver will start as the favourite in Friday night's Sydney Cup (2,140 metres).
The Sunshine Beach x Kotare Yedo colt stormed into the decider with a dominant performance in his heat at Bankstown, his 9.1m victory coming in all the way fashion.
That continued the impressive string of performances from Sonny Weaver since placing sixth in this year's Group 1 Bathurst Gold Crown Final as a $126 outsider.
Not only has Sonny Weaver not lost since then - trials included - he has clocked a 1:53.5 winning mile rate and three of his victories have been by a margin of more than 10m.
He has drawn the tricky barrier seven for the Sydney Cup decider, but is still expected to have the class to win. His rivals include fellow heat winner and stablemate RNR Windermere.
