IT'S entirely unfair and unjustified for the Justice Department to require the Mitchell Conservatorium to vacate the Orchard Room on such short notice ("Conservatorium set to lose major piece of premises", December 6).

I speak as a supporter of the Con, and as an audience member, and a member of the Bathurst musical community.
Hopefully, our council will continue and intensify support in this important issue.

Decisions made at a distance, and with no local knowledge, are too often imposed on regional communities.
Also, hopefully, the Department of Education will come to the aid of our conservatorium, as their students will be badly affected by this ill-considered move.
