This month, the group met with the chairperson of the Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) board, Scott Griffiths PSM, in what has been described as a "very fruitful" meeting.
Mr Griffiths is a former regional executive director of the Western Region NSW Department of Family and Community Services, as well as a former chair of the Western Region Justice and Human Services Manager Network.
Councillor Warren Aubin, who is the spokesperson for the community action group, summarised the meeting with Mr Griffiths at last week's Bathurst Regional Council policy committee meeting.
"This guy doesn't talk health spin, he actually speaks in our own language," Cr Aubin said.
"He actually admits that there is a problem with our hospital, has been since it was built, wasn't built anywhere near big enough. We all realise this, but we actually got some good, firm speech from him.
"He assured us that once the clinical services review is finished up, probably in February or March next year, that he personally is going to chase up a master plan for the Bathurst Hospital and get that in order towards the end of 2020."
The master plan, Cr Aubin said, would provide an opportunity to look closely at the workings of the hospital and its physical infrastructure.
"It was a really, really positive meeting and [Mr Griffiths] is a very nice man to actually deal with, which is a lot different to some of the others we've dealt with."
The meeting with Mr Griffiths came after the action group met with the NSW Minister for Health, Brad Hazzard, in November.
"We did very well and got some really good points across," Cr Aubin said of that meeting.
It was Mr Hazzard who encouraged the group to meet with the health district board to further discuss the issues.
