The Australian Government website, Geoscience Australia recorded a 2.8 magnitude tremor at about 12.13pm.
An aerial image on the website shows the tremor location to be close to a number of mines at Ulan.
A comment on a Gulgong community Facebook page said that it was felt at Cooks Gap, some 30 kilometres east of Gulgong, and another said they thought it was blasting from the nearby coal mines.
