Since Boxing Day, Metro Cinemas has experienced bumper crowds of people looking to get a couple of hours of entertainment in a cool environment.
"We had 1700 people through the door on Boxing Day alone, including 900 who went to see Jumanji: The Next Level," Metro Cinemas manager Mark Hewitt said.
"It was our busiest Boxing Day since 2014, and we expect crowds to remain steady throughout January."
In the last week, Metro Cinema has attracted nearly 9500 people.
Mr Hewitt said the cinema has nine new releases in store for January, a greater number than usual.
"A lot of people are looking forward to Jojo Rabbit, which should prove popular with the 18 to 25 age bracket," he said.
"There's plenty in store for children too, with films like Spies in Disguise and A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon serving as perfect viewing entertainment for younger crowds."
Other films expected in January include Doolittle, My Spy, Bad Boys for Life, 1917 and Midway.
"January is often busy for us with the warm weather and children on school holidays," Mr Hewitt said.
