She has written songs for the likes of Slim Dusty, Jimmy Little and Bananas in Pyjamas but for the last few years, Genni Kane has put to record her thoughts and observations from the kitchen table.

The Millthorpe-based musician spent much of 2019 putting together her second solo record, Songs From the Kitchen Table, which was released in November.
While Kane has been in the music business for over four decades, she said it has been a rewarding experience producing songs on her own merits.
"I've released a number of albums with bands, duos and children's groups but until I did Selfies [her 2016 debut solo record], I'd never written just for me," she said.
"Now that I've started, I can't stop."
Songs From the Kitchen Table was partially recorded at 'The Boatshed,' the home studio of Kris Schubert, and Kane lent the song 'That's Enough' to the Central West festive record Dreaming of a Green Christmas.
Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, Kane was a member of Australian country/bluegrass band Flying Emus [with her brother, John Kane], who won six Golden Guitars and an ARIA for Best Country Album.
But since moving to Millthorpe 20 years ago, Kane has found a greater sense of comfort in her approach to songwriting.
"I still write songs the same way as I did in the Flying Emus days, but I trust the process a whole lot more now," she said.
"The 'Emus' songs were good and they certainly got a lot of attention, but I'm getting a great deal of satisfaction out of the freedom to go in any direction with my songwriting."
Songs From the Kitchen Table was launched at two separate events in Sydney and Millthorpe in November, alongside Twenty Good Summers, the latest offering from her brother [John Kane] and Andy Gordon.
The album received a four-star review in The Sydney Morning Herald.
Kane, along with husband Jon Wilby, runs monthly 'Acoustic Sunday' sessions at Club Millthorpe between May and October each year, and said there's no shortage of talent in the Central West.
"It's astounding how many artists are producing incredible music in this region," she said.
"Everyone is so supportive of each another and in the years we've run 'Acoustic Sunday,' I've never made it through a year without discovering someone new."
Kane's next gig will be the Cake and Cordial Sessions at The Victoria Bathurst on January 18, alongside Kris Schubert, Megan Cooper and Smith & Jones.
