But donations started off with a bang when a man walked up to the makeshift barbecue out the front of the pharmacy and made an anonymous donation of $1000 in cash.
Alex Wood, business manager for the pharmacy, said it was a great start to the day.
The pharmacy, which has held fundraising barbecues for other charities, said the community had been very supportive.
Ms Wood said staff wanted to hold the fundraiser to try to do their bit for fire crews who were working so hard to keep everyone safe.
"We've seen the images, we've heard the stories; this is something we can do," she said.
While she didn't set a fundraising goal for the event, she said other community barbecues had raised around $250.
She said the community were more than happy to support the event.
"The community have been unreal - so giving. Everyone is on board," she said.
Ms Wood said money raised on the day would go towards the appeal being run by 2BS, for all RFS services in the local government area.
